It really is about the little things...

So Aidan and I got in the car this morning to go grocery shopping- it was 17 degrees. As I was about to pull out of the driveway, I heard Aidan asking "what's that" over and over again. I turned around to see him pointing to his breath, staring quizzically at the white air that was flying around his mouth. So I explained to him what he was seeing and ended my lovely explanation by asking, "isn't that neat?". He agreed, looked at his cold breath and smiled, saying "neat!". I couldn't help but start laughing as I witnessed my innocent son experiencing this for the first time, something I never think about like so many things in life. So he started laughing with me, and we sat there in the drive way for another few minutes watching his breath and laughing together. Getting to see him fascinated by this was a highlight of my week.. If only I could live in that simplistic, appreciative world every moment of every day! Words cannot express how grateful I am for getting to experience these moments through the eyes of my toddler boy...

"Dress-up" -Aidan's version

Mommy wears jewelry, Daddy wears watches. Both are shiny and are fun to put on your wrists.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

So we're going backwards a little bit, but we had to share some highlights from Christmas. This year was the most magical one for us since we were kids, thanks to- you guessed it- Aidan Thomas. A day did not go by where he did not see a Santa and exclaim " Ho Ho HOOOO", or ask us repeatedly to turn the Christmas tree "ights" on if they were not already on, or excitedly point out snowmen or reindeer, etc. He even helped Carrie decorate the tree and did not break a single ornament! Our only hurdle was getting him to continue opening Christmas gifts after he became enthralled with each new toy...

Words cannot express how grateful we are for this amazing child this Christmas, and how truly blessed we feel to have not only him, but so many wonderful family and friends to share this awesome holiday with.

Aidan loved the play tent and tunnel Santa gave him!

Grandma looks like the perfect place to park all my trucks!

How are you doing under there, Grandma?

Best picture of Grandpa. Ever.

Aidan Santa brings some Christmas cheer to his Grammy DJ in Easton, PA.

Silly monkey!

Loving his hammer and balls toy from Pops.

Aidan had a ball with his cousin Erin! How generous of her to let him play with her brand new cell phone. :-)

Aidan loved looking at his Great Aunt Kathy's Christmas figurines.

Putting the Christ back in Christmas. :-)

Kisses for Pappy.

Reading a new book from Gaga. He continues to shout "Gaga!" everytime we read the 3 books he received that day!

Fun rides with Aunt Alli.

The love of a family is life's greatest blessing.

See you next year, Santa!

Our First Post

We've been meaning to do this since Aidan was born- and now, nearly 2 years later, we have finally made the blogging plunge. The snapfish albums we create every few months are getting harder and harder to do- mainly because Carrie got a phenomenal new camera for Christmas that allows her to take 1000 more pictures every minute the camera is in her hands! SO, we decided to just post a few of the greats on here and to share with our family and friends that way. Also, Aidan has just been growing up so fast, and doing so many hilarious, amazing things, that we hope to spread the joy he gives us by sharing some stories with all of you, too. We hope you enjoy our Calvey Family Blog!

See below for a glimpse in to Aidan's first "toboggan ride". Pops got him this sled for Christmas, but unfortunately the next day the snow had melted! Aidan did not quite understand that this toboggan was to be used in the snow however, and if he did he certainly didn't care! We found him at the front door, with his hat on, ready to go...

The neighbors may have thought we were a little weird.. but we didn't care- Aidan had a blast "sledding" in the front yard that afternoon!
