The 2013-2014 school year was a tough one in our house when it came to illness. Both Aidan and Connor got ear infection after ear infection all year long. I felt so terrible for both of them! After the 8th round of antibiotics, we were able to have them both scheduled to get tubes put in their ears. (Somehow Gavin escaped this mess and is hardly ever sick!)
While no parent likes to see their child suffer and then go through a full surgery, we are very grateful that their problem was so minor compared to what so many other families endure when it comes to health issues. Every trip to A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital reminded us of how lucky we are and how despite the stress, this is all really no big deal in the grand scheme of life.
I also can't say enough about how much I love this place. We have now needed to use this hospital's services more times than I count- the ER, the surgery center, X-rays and the ENT, and we have never once had a bad experience. Every staff member is extremely professional, yet caring, and we never have to wait more than a few minutes to be seen by someone. If only all experiences of health care could be this way!
Here are the quick pics I snapped of our two patients before they were wheeled back to surgery. Needless to say, they did great and were back to their normal selves once recovered from the anesthesia confusion. Aidan still talks about all the popsicles he enjoyed there, with a big smile on his face. =o)
